This exceptional 50/50 Acanthophyllia is a true showpiece LPS coral featuring dramatic bi-color patterning that makes it one of the most sought-after specimens in the reef hobby. Also known as Meat Corals, Acanthophyllia are prized for their large fleshy polyps, vibrant colors, and relatively easy care requirements.

Care Requirements:

• Lighting: Low to medium (50-100 PAR) - Acanthos thrive under moderate lighting and will show best coloration without excessive intensity. Too much light can cause tissue recession
• Flow: Low to medium indirect flow - Gentle, alternating flow keeps the tissue clean while allowing full polyp extension. Avoid direct strong flow
• Placement: Lower to middle rockwork or sand bed - Provide stable placement with room for growth
• Difficulty: Easy to moderate - Excellent choice for hobbyists with stable parameters

Water Parameters: Maintain stable alkalinity (8-9 dKH), calcium (400-450 ppm), and magnesium (1250-1350 ppm). Acans are relatively forgiving but prefer stable, low-nutrient conditions.

Feeding: Acanthophyllia are aggressive feeders and will benefit greatly from target feeding 2-3 times per week. Feed meaty foods like mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, or quality LPS pellet foods when polyps are extended. Well-fed Acanthos show enhanced coloration and faster growth.

Growth & Coloration: The 50/50 split coloration on this specimen is a premium trait that makes it a centerpiece coral.
